Business insurance holders in the fashion and textiles industry could have seen the market bottom out, it has been claimed.
John Wilson, director general at the UK Fashion and Textile Association (UKFT), said the sector's business insurance customers are "bumping along on the bottom".
The expert suggested that fashion and textiles firms are not expecting conditions to deteriorate any further, but are not seeing any signs of imminent recovery.
However, he added: "There obviously are certain parts of the industry if they are in the right niches, if they have got the right products, then they are doing a bit better."
Mr Wilson also said that the industry's business insurance holders will better see how conditions look for the future when UK and international trade shows open later in the year.
Earlier this week, the UKFT revealed that the British Fashion Council has joined the organisation, in a bid to further strengthen the UK's fashion and textiles sector.
