We recently held a competition between our teams to raise donations for the local Morecambe Bay Foodbank. The Foodbank in Morecambe is part of the Trussell Trust, who operates food banks across the UK.
Our Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) team set our 15 business teams the challenge to collect a list of 24 items taken from the Foodbank’s most wanted items list. The response was overwhelming as each team generously donated the list and more. The boxes were Christmas themed and included additional treats as well as the essentials, for example, small gifts and a selection of games for children as well as a Christmas tree! In fact, a total of 33 boxes were loaded into 2 cars and taken to the Foodbank this week.
This wasn’t the beginning of the relationship between Premierline and the Morecambe Foodbank though. As well as arranging insurance for the Foodbank’s commercial van that is used to collect and deliver food items, our Partnership Coordinator, Paddy Hunt, raised sponsorship for the charity when he ran the Liverpool Marathon earlier this year. And recently, we also sent a group of volunteers to help move and organise donations at the Foodbank.
Managing Director of Premierline, Lee Tetley, was extremely proud of the teams’ efforts and generosity and commented “The response from the teams has been truly outstanding. So much thought has been put into the items donated. During this festive period, you often think about those you can help. I’m pleased we have been able to support such a great charity and can help bring some Christmas cheer to families in the local area.”
Annette Smith, Manager of Morecambe Bay Foodbank commented, “It’s fantastic to receive this large donation from Premierline, which will help provide emergency food to those that need it the most. Local businesses play a vital role in supporting our work with people in poverty, and it’s great to work with the team.”
Premierline takes its charity responsibilities very seriously and frequently holds events or competitions within the company to raise money for their chosen charity. After a three year partnership with the North West Air Ambulance, they have raised over £25,000 which will be doubled by their parent company and given to the Air Ambulances UK charity.
