At Premierline, we have a responsibility to give back to our community, the wider society and our environment.
We aim to make a difference and have a positive impact on individuals and the community we live and work in. Whether that’s through fundraising and raising awareness for charities, donating to local causes or playing our part in working towards a greener future.
Here are just some of the ways our colleagues have worked with charity and local partners and gone the extra mile.
In 2019, when Premierline was still part of the Allianz UK group, all colleagues voted to partner with Mind, as the corporate charity, with the mission to raise £1 million.
Mind is a charity that provides support services for people living with a mental health condition and anyone who is struggling with their mental health. Demand for their specialist services and helpline increased significantly during the pandemic, as they provided advice on coping in lockdown.
Our colleagues have participated in many fundraising activities, as of June 2021, collectively we raised over £800,000 for Mind. Our local fundraising highlights included:
Between 2016 and 2018, we fundraised for North West Air Ambulance, as part of the group’s 3-year corporate partnership with the Association of Air Ambulance Charity. We were proud to have contributed towards the £1 million raised for the charity which went towards funding additional helicopters so the service could increase the number of life-saving incidents they could attend.
North West Air Ambulance is part of the Air Ambulances UK, providing swift, vital medical treatment at the scene to those who have experienced traumatic, life-threatening injuries. The service isn’t funded at all by the NHS, so relies on charitable donations to keep its services going.
Our local fundraising highlights included:
Between 2009 and 2015, we fundraised for St John’s Hospice, Lancaster. St John’s Hospice is a Lancaster based hospice that provides palliative care to those with terminal conditions and support to their families. The hospice is only part-funded by the government and relies on charitable donations to continue to provide its essential services.
At Premierline, we don’t just raise money for charities; we also get involved with the community around us and offer support to those that need it. Our teams have generously donated items and their time through various volunteering initiatives. Premierline colleagues have 20 hours each that can be used to volunteer at charities. Here are some of the ways we’ve supported our community:
We collected items on the Foodbank’s Christmas advent calendar that supported those families in great need during the festive period. We filled 2 cars with 32 boxes of essentials such as food, hats, gloves and stationery, as well as treats like sweets and advent calendars.
Our teams showed tremendous generosity in making 26 boxes full of Christmas goodies, games, food and drinks for each of the hospice outpatients to enjoy for Christmas.
In partnership with Youth Sport Trust (YST), our staff joined the scheme and visited local schools to promote inclusive sports and activities for all-ability young people.
Some of our employees have joined this national initiative to mentor elderly and vulnerable individuals, increasing their confidence in using technology and staying connected.
Employees ironed uniforms for the Food bank’s Uniform appeal, sorted and priced clothing for North West Air Ambulance and St John’s Hospice charity shops, helped pack food at checkouts at M&S and Sainsburys for small charity donations, volunteered at St John’s Hospice with maintenance and gardening tasks, and helped stage a fashion show to raise funds.
It is estimated that every year, 4 billion trees are cut down to make paper. We avoid printing where possible, instead opting for digital methods to cut down on paper usage. We email customers by default and encourage our customers to view their documents through our online portal, rather than request postal packs.
We try and keep waste to a minimum, or ensure as much of it can be recycled as possible. In the office, we’ve installed special bins that separate waste from recyclables and encourage our employees to be mindful too when they are not at work.
Car usage is a key contributor to global warming which is why we encourage our employees to walk or cycle to work if they are local. We offer a cycle to work scheme that provides discounts on cycling equipment. Where driving is the only option, there is a carpooling initiative in place where they are rewarded for being more environmentally friendly
